Artist: Nathan Paddison
Much of Nathan Paddison’s inspiration comes from his struggles with substance abuse and addiction, making his art a form of therapy—each painting a deeply personal mark of a flawed yet remarkable human experience.
"Art and creativity are at the core of my newfound self. To find this passion in a field of endless possibilities is like winning the lotto over and over again. I love the fearlessness and freedom in the work," Nathan shares. While his past fuels his inspiration, his art is not just a reflection of where he’s been but a celebration of who he has become. "I always start with a story but end it like I’m celebrating.”
Working with acrylic, spray paint, charcoal, and oil stick, Nathan's style is both naïve and emotional. He paints with explosive energy and abandon, approaching every canvas with a sense of urgency and physicality—something vital inside him craving expression without fear or restraint. The result is raw, original, gestural, and simplistic in nature.
His distinctive style is marked by a flat rendering of childlike imagery—familiar figures that might belong in a children’s book or a young adult adventure novel. Adding to this playful spirit, Nathan’s witty use of words in titling his works often leaves viewers laughing out loud.
