Arty-Fact: “Advertising” is from a series of collages using adverts from glossy magazines for perfume, fashion, cars and other consumerist goods. Joe juxtaposes this advertising imagery with images of war and genocides from recent world events.
Joe removes the backdrop from the fashion shoots which are designed to distract us, giving us the impression that all is well with the world. In the meantime, great injustice and horrific events happen which we shrug at while we obsess with the trivial.
