Our Latest Listings Are Giving Us Serious FOMA
(Fear Of Missing Art)
Buongiorno Addictees!
We are thrilled to share our latest acquisitions, featuring celebrated contemporary artists - Pejac, Pez and the King of Pop (hee-hee!), Andy Warhol.
For our urban art connoisseurs, we have:
Pejac
Title: Wound (Special Edition)
Medium: 4 colour screen print on 250gsm paper, signed by the artist
Edition: #10/20
Year: 2016
Size: 100.0cm x 70.0cm
Arty-Fact: Through a minimalist approach, using a limited colour palette and lots of negative space to accent the message, Pejac created an emotive image that speaks volumes. Symbolising the irreparable damage to the environment caused by human behaviour, Wound shows an ice breaker leaving a bloody scar as it roams the frozen ocean.
Title: Heavy Sea
Medium: 2 colour screen print with hand finished details on 250gsm paper, signed by the artist
Edition: #51/70
Year: 2014
Size: 102.0cm x 73.0cm
Arty-Fact: Heavy Sea shows a massive pile of car tires with one lonely red safety ring among them. In his signature style, Pejac is using a simple image to address a large, important issue – ocean pollution and waste disposal. The work was likely inspired by the phenomenon of Osborne Reef, an artificial reef made of over one million car tires off the coast of Florida. The uneven contrast between the abundance of black tires against one bright safety ring symbolises a desperate situation that mankind is in. It also, however, represents a ray of hope.
Pez
Title: Kunoichi (Gold Leaf Edition)
Medium: 22 colour screen print on 300gsm Somerset paper with deckled edges, gold leaf embellishment and emboss stamp, signed by the artist
Edition: #11/20
Year: 2018
Size: 78.0cm x 62.0cm
Arty-Fact: "I don't think everyone can and should include messages in their work. You have to get a sort of maturity to be able to do so. Until recently, I'd only designed purely aesthetic pieces, but my work is increasingly carrying a strong message, and I think I'm enjoying it. Sometimes the message is obvious, and sometimes I let people read into it whatever they like." ~ Pez
Title: Alter Ego
Medium: 22 colour screen print on 300gsm Somerset paper with deckled edges and emboss stamp, signed by the artist
Edition: #146/150
Year: 2017
Size: 88.0cm x 64.0cm
Arty-Fact: "I don't think I have a sort of mission or something because I'm an artist. I'm just adding messages to my work because I like it, but I'll never force myself if I have nothing to say." ~ Pez
For those of you who love a little pop art on your walls, we have the iconic:
Andy Warhol
Title: Chanel No. 5 (Suite of Four Posters)
Medium: Offset lithograph on wove paper affixed to linen canvas backing, plate signed by Andy Warhol
Edition: Unknown
Year: 1997
Size: Each poster (x4) is 71.5cm x 56.5cm
Arty-Fact: Chanel No. 5, printed under the auspices of the estate of Andy Warhol, comes from the artist's Ads Portfolio.
Created by Ernest Beaux for Coco Chanel in 1921, Chanel No. 5 became synonymous with sophistication and luxury, two qualities Andy Warhol hoped to instil in his work.
Today, Chanel perfume remains a household name, just as it was during the Warhol era. In 1997, Chanel revisited the image, with the Warhol Foundation's permission, for use in an advertising campaign that year. The rich blue, red, gold, and green hues bring this simple rectangular bottle to life. The Chanel No. 5 perfume bottle stands alone as an iconic design.
Many of these posters appeared on buses and public transportation throughout Paris. It is not known how many were printed or how many remain today, but this gorgeous suite of four French vintage posters remains highly desirable.
