Arty-Fact: England’s Queen Victoria (reign 1837 - 1901) asserted women were ‘not able to be gay’ as she didn’t believe it existed (her counsel was unwilling to enlighten her). History suggests, Queen Victoria was in fact attracted to women - having vetoed a bill to make lesbianism illegal. And this is precisely what Banksy takes aim at in this piece.
"Just close your eyes and think of England." ~ Queen Victoria
