Arty-Fact: Originally commissioned by Flaunt magazine and then used as a cover for many magazines including Lancôme’s worldwide campaign image, this portrait of actress Kate Winslet is easily one of Markus’ most famous. No one involved could have guessed the photograph would have such an incredible life.
“The shoot was short and simple," says Markus. "She wasn’t feeling well, just getting over the flu and had a sick child at home as well, so it was a challenge for her. Kate was friendly and professional, but anxious to get it done quickly.”
The shoot was the essence of simplicity. Fifteen minutes, a black blouse and white wall were all it took for Kate and Markus to create this iconic image.
