Haruki Murakami then used the image for the cover of his bestselling novel, Norwegian Wood. The book has been translated into English twice; the first time was in 1989, followed by a second translation in 2000, with the authorised version published outside Japan. It's this 2000 version that featured Markus' image on the cover.
