Happy Friday Addictees!
Usually, we’ve got some quirky story about the art world to kick off our blog. This week, pickings are slim unless you count Harry Styles’ (former One Direction band member / current solo artist) JW Anderson designed cardigan entering the archives of London’s Victoria & Albert Museum. That was a long sentence. Are we missing something or are they all riding that watermelon sugar high (song lyrics to a Harry Styles song)?
No cardigans were harmed or museumed in the making of this week’s Weekend Art Fix which comes from the brilliant abstract artist, Ale Osollo.
Ale was born in Chihuahua (Mexico) in 1979. Her childhood, adolescence and youth were spent in a society bursting with Mexican customs and traditions.
In her mind and spirit dwells the magical fantasy that has accompanied her in dreams since she was a child. Art gave Ale the outlet to capture this other world using materials that were within her reach at the time - such as vegetables or fruit from the refrigerator and even toilet paper. Today, her works are narratives, rich in symbolism that draw on heritage.
"In my case, painting is an exercise of the soul. Through it, I draw emotions, send messages and develop ideas. I enjoy the pleasure and tranquillity of observing my environment. Being aware of others makes me more human, and I want to transmit it, spread it to all those crazy dreamers and optimists. We are in an era where our destiny is not to complain or generate more fear or anger or violence. Channelling the energy of human beings for the benefit of all will make us more sensitive. LET'S FOCUS! Let's make a personal decision, let's work with our body, soul and mind to serve everyone in what they are passionate about in favour of everything and everyone, away from stress, violence, depression, self-destructive behaviours. Little by little, we will be a community of beings who are more thinking, more sensitive and happier." ~ Ale Osollo
