'Roger Vadim's Nightmare - All The Angels', Hand signed, hand embellished screen print on paper, Unique #1/1, 2017
Blue (Da Ba Dee) by EIFFEL 65, 1999
Sing the blues Addictees!
No feeling blue (da ba dee da ba daa) art loving friends ‘cause this blog is all about this stable, loyal, confident and wise colour - which is also the colour mosquitoes are attracted to twice as much as any other (we really love the internet).
Blue (and Red) artwork is said to make more kach$ng at auctions and it’s just been proven by S-C-I-E-N-C-E (in shouty spaced out caps) at the CentERlab at Tilburg University in the Netherlands. The evidence is documented in “Colors, Emotions, and the Auction Value of Paintings”. Unlike Brainy Smurf, it's not a pigment of our imagination - there’s a scary looking formula and everything!

Razzia (Gérard Courbouleix-Deneriaz)
'Miami Deco Buildings [Triptych] – Century, The Wave & Surf', Ink sublimation on aluminium panel (x3), Limited to 250, 1990
Arty-Fact: “Miami was a series of limited editions created on the theme of architecture, which I chose to design as a triptych [Century, The Wave & Surf] with the sea as a baseline.” ~ Razzia.

Greg Beebe
'You A Star', Mixed media (acrylic, spray paint, air brush, resin) on box canvas, 2016
Arty-Fact: 'You A Star' celebrates Marilyn Monroe's natural star power delivered in a pop / grafitti-esque style. Set on a backdrop of Rolling Stone magazine covers, the work also celebrates the star power of numerous other celebrities. Motivation is the message.
Pure Evil
'Roger Vadim's Nightmare - All The Angels', Hand signed, hand embellished screen print on paper, Unique #1/1, 2017
Arty-Fact: Pure Evil explains that a Chinese “copy village” gave impetus to his “nightmares”. The village offered, via email, a list of artists it could reproduce, including three Andy Warhol prints. The idea of Warhol reduced to three images fascinated Pure Evil and became the inspiration, in concert with Warhol’s “Death and Disaster” series, for his ongoing doomed and dripping celebrity portraits. NH (Nicole Pon Horvath)
'Cherry Blossom And Winter Sky', Acrylic on canvas, 2010
Arty-Fact: The sky is bright and blue and the cherry trees are in bloom on this winter’s day in Japan. The air is fresh and crisp. This is a picture perfect moment for NH.
Booda Brand
'Instant Karma – Blue (Spiritus Series)', Hand signed, limited edition giclée on paper, Limited to 40, 2011
Arty-Fact: An ironic scenario that understands karma to be a life-long practice and pursuit. Yet today we all want everything instantaneously just like our instant noodle soup.
Lakshmi Mohanbabu
'Primary Interactions Reverse Light - Blue', Acrylic on canvas, 2017
Arty-Fact: "My Interactions series draws from the cross-cultural patterns and paths of the Mandala – a concept common to all religions; a representation of the universe, a microcosm and macrocosm seen as a motif in Hindu temples, Buddhist stupas, Muslim mosques and Christian cathedrals. Patterns and lines drawn from ancient times coalesce beautifully with a series of bold colours, to illustrate the magicial wonders of achieving balance in our lives – the yin and yang of our personal dualities. Add a dash of Sir Isaac Newton’s colour wheel and you have the basis of my Interaction pieces."~ Lakshmi Mohanbabu
A. Selvaraj
'Enchantress No. 8', Pen, ink, water colour and acrylic on paper, 2006
Arty-Fact: Reflecting on his journey from Gudiyattam High School to Cholamandal Artists’ Village, “[My] dance experience slowly affected my style both in painting and sculpture. They acquired a fluidity, and in the paintings, I am now able to get a flow of light and dark. My style remains clearly figurative and I feel inspired by musicians, dancers, village women and deities.”

Jeff Gillette
'Dubai Landfill Mickey', Hand signed, limited edition giclée on paper, #10/50, 2016
Arty-Fact: “I call my work of Landfills, ‘Slumscapes’ and Post-Apocalyptic scenes as ‘Too-Realism’, as in too real; stuff that people don't want to think about, although it is ever-present in one's psyche or in one's periphery while in a taxi from the airport to the hotel in a developing country.” ~ Jeff Gillette

Sarah Hardacre
'Arms Open To Welcome The Sun', Hand signed, limited edition serigraph on paper, #17/30, 2012
Arty-Fact: The energy and power represented by the iconic poster for the 1958 American Sci-Fi film, “Attack of the 50 Foot Woman”, had an influence on Sarah’s works. She comments, “The women presented in the prints and collages draw strength from fragilities and bring promise for change on a grander scale.”

LAKI 139
'Electronic Graffiti', Mixed media on reclaimed metal panel, 2014
Arty-Fact: It was LAKI 139’s introduction to graffiti, that especially “blew me away.” In reference to the two books, Subway Art and Spraycan Art, that have long been regarded as integral documents of the early history of the New York City graffiti movement, he added: “Seeing the art in those two bibles, I could look at those pages for hours.”
And now, some blue facts which will change your life:
Fun fact: Blue’s opposite is orange.
Fun Fact: Natural ultramarine, made by grinding and purifying lapis lazuli, was the finest available blue pigment in the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. It was extremely expensive, and in Italian Renaissance art, it was often reserved for the robes of the Virgin Mary.
Fun Fact: Studies show weight-lifters are able to handle heavier weights in blue gyms (don’t say we don’t teach you anything).
