Bonjour Addictees!
We are pleased to present Rainbow Lovers, a delicious new series from graffiti and street artist, Anthea Missy.
Inspired by Matisse and the French technique of “coupe gouaché” (cut gouache), the Rainbow Lovers series mixes old techniques and inspirations with Anthea's contemporary lines and organic shapes. The combination of antique gold leaf inclusions with patina effects blends powerfully with flashy pop colours.
Shapes and colours sing in melody with abstraction and figurative touches, telling a story of light and dark, that brings innovation within the Matissean dream and continuity.
The following song lyrics aptly capture the spirit of Anthea’s new series:
"The rainbow is a path. It leads from dark to light and from light to dark.
It leads to your imagination.
If you open your mind, you'll find your dusty rainbow from the dark."
~ Dusty Rainbow From The Dark – Wax Tailor
“In this way, the series of eight works are all parts of the same rainbow and create the complete picture of infinity beyond physical borders,” explains Anthea.
“The silhouettes are mysterious and faceless. Tender love is the underlying theme where one shape is bound together by a patchwork of different pieces. An emotion of intimacy and confidence prevails in the whole body of work as it moves through different environments.
“Rainbow Lovers is a reminder that moments happen only once. It is about the important things in life which we have moved away from, and of our mission to bring together all the elements within and around us to make us whole again.” – Anthea Missy
“She asked him if he understood the uniqueness of his life
She explained that moments happen only once
Like an hourglass, turned over, not able to be turned again
She said, "we are given a life to experience
To feel, we must be present in these moments..."
~ Like An Hourglass – Wax Tailor

A little about Anthea Missy...
Anthea is a graffiti and street artist based in Brussels, Belgium. Her works can be found on walls across Europe and Asia.
Anthea usually paints cute characters with an Asian pop influence characterised by a youthful vibe. Her work conveys happiness and gravitates around love while tackling social and political topics.
From a visual perspective, she enjoys using a minimalistic colour palette and bold organic graphics. Her most powerful murals to date are of Ihsane Jarfi, a portrait of an LGTBQI victim and, Women Bike the City, a feminist work which was revealed earlier this month.
