“Fast, hard edged and stripped down, a dark world of gangs, goddesses and groupies, woven in to a pure, rock and rebellion. A luxurious mixture of print, acrylic, spray paint, wheat paste and varnish.”
PREFAB77 (Peter Manning) is a UK based artist whose artistic roots stem from his time as a printmaker and designer in the British Army. He later moved to New York to work in fashion and branding. It was here where he became enamoured with the street culture in his Nolita neighbourhood where he was surrounded by street art by Swoon, FAILE, Shepard Fairey and WK Interact.
“Weaving small pieces of popular culture; money, street, religious, musical and political affiliations, into visually beautiful allegorical portraits, PREFAB77 expresses an abstract idea or conveys a meaning not explicitly set forth in the narrative. A modern fable, a story or a warning, often political, sometimes anti-establishment but always beautiful.”
