Companies can create subcultures through advertising and intense repetition. Through the use of their powerful logo, branding can hypnotize consumers to blindly follow a cultural agenda.
Through this conceptual photographic study, Jamie displays that when adorned with logos, we automatically identify with preconceived ideas and lifestyles.
Using the model’s skin as the canvas, one image even shows a woman’s derriere literally branded with a YSL logo. Jamie compares this phenomenon to the branding process used by cattle ranchers to distinguish their herds.
Jamie’s over-the-top depiction of superfluous logos warns the viewer of the herd mentality, while inspiring them to celebrate their own individuality.
